A study on lighting that was inspired by my admiration for Milton Caniff and specifically his work and inking for the comic Steve Canyon. Caniff drew Steve Canyon until he died in 1988, at the age of 81.

As far  as I know and unlike what I did here Caniff didn’t use any dry brush technique because it wouldn’t repro correctly in the dailies of the time. This constraint would make it considerably harder to achieve granularity in the image, but that’s something I haven’t learned yet.
